The VDI team led by the Executive Director, Barr. Catherine Edeh paid a courtesy visit to NAPTIP today to discuss areas in which VDI and NAPTIP can collaborate to achieve disability inclusion in Nigeria.
The courtesy visit is in line with VDI’s ongoing project on access to Sexual and Reproductive Health rights for women with disabilities with funding support from AmplifyChange.
Areas of collaboration discussed include, Sexual and Reproductive Health rights of women with disabilities, awareness raising and sensitization on Gender-Based Violence against women and girls with disabilities, child trafficking and VAPP Laws in special schools, sensitization on harassment and sexual exploitation of girls with disabilities amongst other things.
The ED in her opening remarks appreciated the Deputy Director of NAPTIP for receiving the team. She lauded NAPTIP for its accessibility and inclusion programs, adding that the passion for disability inclusion is seen in NAPTIP’s activities and in the current administration. She therefore believes that a lot can be achieved if both parties collaborate to achieve a common goal.
The Deputy Director of NAPTIP, Mrs Tolu Odugbesan in her address commended the ED for championing the course of disability inclusion in Nigeria. She added that a collaboration with VDI will not be a lost course.
